Pie Baking Contest and Auction
Baking Contest
- Open to ladies and gentlemen of all ages.
- Have pies at the city park by 12:45pm.
- There is no limit to the number of entries submitted.
- The crust must be made from scratch
- The filling must be made with fresh or frozen fruit. No canned filling or mixes.
- Pies are to be two crusted and baked in a 9” pan.
- The pie must be displayed in or on a non-returnable pan.
- A copy of the recipe must be submitted with each entry.
- No custard or meringue pies will be accepted due to the lack of refrigeration available.
- Pies will be auctioned at the Horse Pull later that evening. Proceeds will go the New Market Celebration Committee.
Auction
All pies are welcome, even if they were not entered in the contest. Please deliver the pies to the city park by 6:30pm (before the horse pull) in a non-returnable pan.
- Registration starts at 7pm in the Miner Pavilion.
- 6 person teams
- Double elimination tournament
- $30 entry fee per team.
- Open to all ages.
- The court uses the same boundaries as the volleyball court.
- All players must start on the endline to start the game.
- The balls must be brought back behind the service line before they can be thrown.
- A player is out if they step across the half court line.
- All players need to form a line after they get out starting with the earliest exit.
- If the ball is caught, the thrower is out and the first person in line comes back into play for the team that caught the ball.
- Any player caught behind the endline for more than 3 seconds will receive one warning from the judge. The second time will result in immediately being called out.
- Head shots do not count unless the player ducked into it, so it is up to the referee’s discretion.
- In case the game ends due to time, the team with the most players remaining wins.
- Registration begins at 7am on the old football field beside the track.
- Race begins at 8am sharp.
- Awards will be given within the age groups.
- A clydesdale section will also be ran.

RACE FEE: $15 FIRST CLASS, $5 FOR EACH ADDITIONAL CLASS
CHECK IN TIME: 7:30 A.M. RACING STARTS @ 9:00 A.M.
REQUIREMENTS: HELMET, GOGGLES, LONG PANTS, OVER THE ANKLE BOOTS, RIDERS UNDER 18 MUST HAVE GUARDIANS AT SIGN IN. NO RACER SIGN-UP AFTER RIDERS MEETING IS OVER. ATV’s AND MOTORCYCLES MUST BE HAULED/TRAILERED IN. NO RIDING OUTSIDE THE FOOTBALL FIELD.
- Enter the staging area from Crestwood Avenue (first street east of Main Street).
- The horse staging area is in the pasture just north of Crestwood Avenue.
- Registration is from 11:30-12:30.
- NO ATV’s or Dirt Bikes Allowed.
- Show up with your group if you would like to go through the parade with them.
